On Nov. 21, 2017, 14 senators voted for the transfer of the Senate from Pasay City to Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City. This was after Sen. Lacson delivered a sponsorship speech for the Senate’s relocation.

Since 1996, the Senate has been renting the use of its building from the GSIS, and its parking lot from the SSS.
The P2.244 billion in rent that the Senate had spent in more than 20 years could have gone to build an iconic permanent Senate building, like those of its counterparts abroad.
Even the Philippine Supreme Court is planning its own new home at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig.
For the Senate, two potential relocation sites were considered: Antipolo City and Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City.
Of the Senate employees who responded to a survey, 66.96% preferred to have the Senate relocated to Taguig City, while 18.51% preferred Antipolo City.
