Senate Resolution 580 calls for the constitution of the Senate of the Philippines into a constituent assembly to propose amendments to – or revision of – the Constitution, and upon approval of 3/4 vote of its members adopt the same.

  1. Maybe this proposal of Sen Lacson is the better option in updating or revising our Contitution. In the light of the bickering and plotting no-el for extension of terms by some politicians is demoralizing the citizenry and confusion over important issues arise. Maybe Senate can do the job instead of a joint assembly wherein the Senate shall be overwhelmed by the sheer number of Congress. Anyway, the amendments will still be ratified by the people. This way the government can accrue savings earmarked for said undertaking and shorten the working time in crafting the New Constitution.
