From Politiko: Success and failure: In this world, we’re sure to encounter these ‘friends’ – the jealous drop out on your way up; the opportunists drop out on your way down,” Sen. Lacson said in a tweet on Friday.

One is likely to meet jealous and opportunistic friends in times of success and failure.
These words of wisdom from Sen. Panfilo Lacson may well be advice to resigned Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II and incoming Philippine National Police chief Oscar Albayalde.
“Success and failure: In this world, we’re sure to encounter these ‘friends’ – the jealous drop out on your way up; the opportunists drop out on your way down,” Lacson said in a tweet on Friday.
In a later tweet, Lacson said the opportunists are the worse kind of pal as they kick harder than they “bootlick.”
“(T)he opportunists kick you more than they bootlicked you before,” he said in response to a tweet from Philippine envoy to the United Nations Teodoro Locsin Jr.
Lacson’s tweet came a day after President Rodrigo Duterte accepted Aguirre’s resignation, in the wake of several legal debacles at the Justice Department under Aguirre.
Also on Thursday, Duterte announced he has picked Albayalde as the successor of PNP chief Ronald dela Rosa.
For his part, Locsin – a former broadcast journalist and Press Secretary – noted there may even be “envious” persons waiting to backbite.
“And the envious are calling their backbiting of you a public service,” Locsin said in response to Lacson’s tweet.
