Due process for Sen. Ronald dela Rosa does not mean shielding him from facing trial before the International Criminal Court, Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson said Tuesday.
Lacson said his call and prayer for due process for dela Rosa means allowing his beleaguered colleague to face trial before the ICC without risking violence – or worse – tragedy in the process of arresting him.

“To me, due process means allowing Senator dela Rosa to face trial before the ICC rather than risk violence and worse, tragedy,” he said.
He reiterated that due process is a basic right that belongs to all human beings, including dela Rosa, who served as his subordinate in the Philippine National Police and Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Task Force.
Dela Rosa is the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court in connection with the Duterte administration’s war on drugs.
After learning of the warrant late last year, dela Rosa went into hiding and briefly surfaced at the Senate last May 11 to vote for Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano as Senate president – then fled the Senate following a shooting incident inside the Senate premises last May 13.

“To me, due process means allowing Senator dela Rosa to face trial before the ICC rather than risk violence and worse, tragedy,” aniya.
