Allow the mandated agencies to implement government projects.
This was the appeal of former Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson to lawmakers on Tuesday, as he said lawmakers can better help ensure the proper implementation of projects by exercising their power of oversight.
“We have the mandate of oversight. How can we exercise it if some of us interfere in the implementation of projects, which is not our job?” he said in Filipino at a press conference of the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate in Pasay City.

He noted the lawmakers’ job is deemed over once the bill they passed is enrolled and signed by the President into law.
The lawmakers’ next job is to oversee or check how the law they passed is being implemented.
“Once the bill is enrolled and signed into law by the President, our job ends. The next job of lawmakers is to oversee or check how the executive department implements the projects approved by Congress,” he said.

Hayaan ang mga ahensyang may mandato na magpatupad ng proyekto ng gobyerno.
Ito ang apela ni dating Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson sa mga mambabatas nitong Martes. Aniya, makakatulong ang mambabatas sa pagtiyak sa tamang pag-implementa ng proyekto sa pamamagitan ng oversight.
“Meron kaming mandate ng oversight. Paano kami mag-exercise ng oversight sa implementation ng proyekto ng executive branch kung kami mismo ay nakikihalo sa implementation ng proyekto na hindi naman namin trabaho?” aniya sa pulong pambalitaan ng Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate sa Pasay City.
Giit ni Lacson, ang trabaho ng mambabatas ay tapos na sa oras na mai-enrol at mapirmahan ng Pangulo ang panukalang batas na kanilang binalangkas.
Ang susunod na trabaho ng mga mambabatas pagkatapos nito ay ang oversight – o ang pagtiyak na tama ang pagpapatupad ng batas.
“Matapos naming ma-enrol ang bill at mapirmahan ng Pangulo, tama na. Ang susunod naming trabaho, mag-oversee o check ang executive kung paano ginagastos ang budget para sa mga proyekto na inaapruba ng Kongreso. Yan ang aking panawagan,” ani Lacson.
