Ping Lacson Pushes Harsher Penalties for Filipinos Caught Helping Spy on Our Own Country

BATANGAS CITY – Independent senatorial candidate Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson wants harsher penalties for Filipinos caught helping foreigners spy on the Philippines.

Lacson also said that should he earn a Senate seat in May, he would move to augment the budget for the intelligence community to upgrade their technical equipment to counter espionage activities.

“It is the height of being a traitor if a Filipino were to help a foreigner spy on our own country,” he said in Filipino at the press conference of the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate here.

“Filipinos who help foreigners spy on their own country deserve double the punishment. Can you imagine a Filipino helping a foreigner harm his or her own fellow Filipinos?” he added.

Ping Lacson Hopeful Filipino Voters Smart Enough Not to be Affected by China ‘Meddling’

LUCENA CITY – Independent senatorial candidate Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson is hopeful that when Filipino voters choose their leaders on May 12, they will be smart enough not to be affected by “meddling” and recent espionage activities involving China.

“We are hopeful Filipino voters are smart,” Lacson said in Filipino Friday at the press conference of the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate here, when asked about the effect of such activities on the May 12 polls.

But Lacson also reiterated that it is high time we updated and toughened our anti-espionage law, especially in the wake of recent espionage activities linked to China.

Ping Lacson: Government Must Extend Assistance to 3 Filipinos Facing Espionage Charges in China

ANTIPOLO CITY – The government must extend all possible assistance to the three Filipinos who face espionage charges in China, former Senator and 2025 senatorial candidate Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson said Friday.

Lacson said what happened is “unfortunate” since China has expanded the definition and coverage of its anti-espionage law, with heavy penalties including life imprisonment and execution.

“For now, what the Philippine government can do, as it always does, is to send whatever legal assistance and whatever assistance we can give to the three Filipinos who I suppose are now under detention. We do not know the extent or gravity of the charges against them,” he said in Filipino at the press conference of the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate here.

“Imagine, from life imprisonment to execution. God forbid,” he added.

Ping Lacson: Filipinos in Taiwan Must Prepare for Possible Invasion

ANTIPOLO CITY – Filipinos in Taiwan must do their part to prepare for a possible invasion by China, former Senator and 2025 senatorial bet Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson said Friday.

Lacson said Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff Gen. Romeo Brawner was right in telling troops of the Northern Luzon Command to prepare for a Taiwan invasion contingency.

“Gen. Brawner is right in telling the AFP to prepare. Who else can implement the evacuation plan other than those who have the equipment and capability to evacuate or at least protect our fellow Filipinos there?” he said in Filipino at the press conference of the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate here.

Ping Lacson Cites Tradition of PH Leaders Standing Up to Foreign ‘Bullies’

The Philippines has a long and proud history of leaders standing up to foreign powers to defend our sovereignty and freedom – and former Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson is confident this tradition will continue amid current world events.

Lacson said Philippine leaders and heroes have stood up to invaders and colonizers in the same way Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy refused to be cowed by US President Donald Trump recently – for his people’s sake.

“I do hope and trust that our president – not just President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., but all other presidents – have stood up to foreign powers during the time of the Spaniards, Japanese and Americans. They all fought for our sovereignty and freedom,” he said in Filipino, in an interview on Bombo Radyo Philippines.

“We have experienced this and I trust that regardless of who the bully is, our leaders will stand up for us,” he added.
