Lacson to President: We Have Your Back vs Flood Control Profiteers

We have your back, Sir.

On this note, Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson assured President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Sunday of his and his staff’s resolve to expose and gather evidence against greedy profiteers, including those behind anomalous flood control projects.

“We feel you, Mr. President. You have given me and my team the firm resolve to do our part in exposing, even compiling solid evidence to nail these ‘greedy flood-control profiteers’ and their cohorts both in the public and private sectors. We have your back, Sir,” Lacson said in a post on X.

The President, in a teaser video for his podcast Saturday night, appeared teary-eyed and said this was because he was “very upset” about Filipinos who are having a hard time while the greedy ones profit.

According to the President, ordinary Filipinos work very hard for their families yet suffer. “Mabuti kung masamang tao yan, dapat parusahan. Hindi naman. Walang ginawa iyan kundi magtrabaho, kundi mahalin ang pamilya. Ba’t mo paparusahan? Para magpayaman ka? That makes no sense to me (Bad people deserve punishment, but ordinary Filipinos have done nothing but work for their families. Why punish them just so some can get rich? That makes no sense to me),” he said.

Last Aug. 20, Lacson delivered a privilege speech detailing the corruption behind substandard and ghost flood projects. He credited the President’s “Mahiya naman kayo” pronouncement to lawmakers involved in corruption, as well as the setting up of the Sumbong sa Pangulo website to make public the status of flood control projects nationwide.

Over the weekend, Lacson said he is willing to furnish the new DPWH leadership with “damning evidence” against the department’s “rotten fruits.”

On Wednesday, Sept. 10, Lacson is to follow up on his revelations about the corruption behind substandard and ghost flood control projects in another privilege speech.

Tiniyak ni Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. nitong Linggo ang buong suporta laban sa mga mapagsamantala na sangkot sa katiwalian sa likod ng mga palpak at guniguning flood control projects.

Ani Lacson, ginagawa niya at ng kanyang staff ang pagkalap ng ebidensya laban sa mga ganid na ito, at pati na rin ang kanilang kasabwat sa gobyerno at pribadong sektor.

Sa isang teaser video ng kanyang podcast noong Sabado ng gabi, tila naiiyak ang Pangulo at sinabing siya ay labis na nababahala para sa mga Pilipinong nahihirapan habang ang mga sakim ay patuloy na kumikita.

Ayon sa Pangulo, nagsusumikap nang husto ang karaniwang Pilipino para sa kanilang pamilya ngunit sila pa ang naghihirap. “Mabuti kung masamang tao yan, dapat parusahan. Hindi naman. Noong Agosto 20, nagtalumpati si Lacson sa Senado at ibinunyag ang korapsyon sa likod ng mga substandard at ghost flood projects. Ipinagpasalamat din niya ang pahayag ng Pangulo na “Mahiya naman kayo” para sa mga mambabatas na sangkot sa katiwalian, gayundin ang pagtatatag ng Sumbong sa Pangulo website na nagbibigay-alam sa publiko ukol sa estado ng mga flood control projects sa buong bansa.

Noong nakaraang weekend, sinabi ni Lacson na handa siyang magbigay ng matitinding ebidensya sa bagong pamunuan ng DPWH laban sa mga “rotten fruits” ng ahensya.

Sa Miyerkules, Setyembre 10, nakatakdang ipagpatuloy ni Lacson ang kanyang pagbubunyag tungkol sa katiwalian sa likod ng mga substandard at ghost flood control projects sa isa pang privilege speech.
