Ping Lacson Pushes Data-Driven Strategy to Lessen Dependence on Rice Imports

ROSALES, Pangasinan – Former Senator and 2025 senatorial candidate Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson is pushing for a data-driven national strategy that will lessen our dependence on rice imports.

Lacson said such a data-driven approach will ensure that surplus rice from productive regions will reach areas with low supply, and minimize the impact of inefficiencies in agricultural logistics.

“What is important is that our moves must be data-driven. We need an efficient and effective monitoring and data-sharing mechanism,” he said in English at the “Konsultahang Bayan: Agenda para sa Agrikultura” forum at the New Bagsakan Center of the Rosales Farmer’s Market here Wednesday.

Ping Lacson Eyes ‘Kabataang Magsasaka Para sa Bayan’ Bill to Ensure Food Security

ROSALES, Pangasinan – To enhance our food security while encouraging youths to be farmers, former Senator and 2025 senatorial candidate Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson is eyeing a scholarship program for deserving students – especially children of farmers – who want to join the agriculture sector.

Lacson said Wednesday that such a program similar to the “Doktor Para sa Bayan Act” – authored by former Senate President Vicente Sotto III – would also expose young scholars to technological advancements in agriculture.

He plans to file the “Kabataang Magsasaka Para sa Bayan” bill should he earn a seat in the Senate this May.

“This is to encourage children of farmers to study new technologies through scholarships in agriculture courses. They will study new technologies and developments to improve their agricultural yield, instead of using traditional manual methods,” he said in Filipino at the “Konsultahang Bayan: Agenda para sa Agrikultura” held at the New Bagsakan Center of the Rosales Farmer’s Market here.

“We will enhance our agricultural productivity while increasing the interest of our youths in farming,” he added.

Ping Lacson Shares Simple Way to Fight Fake News

Former Senator and 2025 senatorial candidate Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson on Monday shared a simple but effective way to fight fake news: Just don’t share it.

In a message before the Elders of Valenzuela City (EVC), Lacson said Filipino netizens must know how to be discerning, and resist the temptation to share something without verifying it first.

“Fake news is a big problem now. We must be careful and discerning. But there are times we can easily tell a ‘news story’ is fake,” he said in Filipino.

“The problem with some netizens is that if they get excited, they share it. They are doing a disservice to the person at the receiving end of the fake news. So let’s not spread fake news, and let’s fight the spread of fake news,” he added.
