Ping Lacson to PNP: Keep up Good Work on Crime Prevention Measures

Even as he congratulated the Philippine National Police for a significant decline in focus crimes nationwide, former Senator and 2025 senatorial candidate Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson exhorted the police force to keep up police visibility and other crime prevention measures.

Lacson said the PNP, which regained its glory years when he headed from 1999 to 2001, must also strengthen its intelligence efforts towards crime prevention and crime suppression.

“Congratulations to our police force. Statistics won’t lie,” Lacson said in Filipino, in an interview on DZRH radio.

“We must particularly watch out for index crimes, crimes against persons and properties, like theft, murder and homicide. This reflects the peace and order situation,” he added.

Ping Lacson Gives Doable Policy to Prevent Violence in Poll Hotspots

Let the Philippine National Police (PNP) or Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) assign security personnel – preferably from the same unit – to opposing political personalities, especially in areas designated as election hotspots.

This was the doable policy suggested by former PNP chief and Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson on minimizing, if not preventing, election-related violence as the campaign season for local officials goes into full swing.

“It may be better to replace the bodyguards of opposing political personalities with personnel from the same unit. Members of the same unit know each other so they will not fight each other,” Lacson said in Filipino Saturday, in an interview on DZRH radio.

“They will secure their principals but will not deliberately fire on each other. This may be practical in election hotspots, instead of candidates individually asking for exemption from the Commission on Elections so they can get their security detail from the PNP or AFP,” he added.

Ping Lacson: Being in Top 3 in Survey is Encouraging, Challenging

Both encouraging and challenging. This was how former Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson described being in the “Top 3” of a recent survey on the 2025 senatorial race.

Lacson, who ranked third in the MBC-DZRH Pre-Election Survey’s Second Wave conducted March 8 to 10, said on Saturday that he will continue to work hard on his campaign.

“This is both encouraging and challenging. A large part of the campaign relies on messaging and the people’s perception of you,” he said in Filipino in an interview on DZRH.

Ping Lacson to PNP, AFP: Remain Professional Amid ‘Calls’ for Partisan Action

Remain professional and loyal to the country. This was former Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson’s message to the Philippine National Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines, amid reported calls for partisan activity following the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

Lacson also said Saturday that members of the PNP and AFP should double-check such calls especially those made through social media, because of the proliferation of fake news.

“They should remain professional and loyal to their duty. That is the best message,” he said in Filipino in an interview on DZRH radio.

“In this day and age of information technology, fake news spreads fast. And we know that is in their training to conduct fact-checking first. If there are reports of partisan activity, they should not get involved,” he added.
