Lacson to Law Enforcement: Intelligence Key to Tracking, Arresting High-Profile Fugitives

Good intelligence work is the key to tracking down and arresting high-profile personalities including Sen. Ronald dela Rosa, Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson said Sunday.

Lacson gave this advice to law enforcement agencies who are also looking for “prominent” personalities including dela Rosa, “Atong” Ang, former Gen. Gerald Bantag, and even ex-Rep. “Zaldy” Co who is believed to be in France.

“As one who worked in law enforcement, intelligence for breakfast, lunch, dinner and everything in between. Intelligence is the prime mover of any operation, law enforcement or military,” he said in a mix of English and Filipino in an interview on DZBB radio.

Lacson: Prospective Senate Probe on May 13 Shooting Should Focus on Remedial Measures

Any prospective investigation by the Senate into the shooting incident inside its premises last May 13 should focus on remedial measures rather than criminal liability, Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson said Friday.

Lacson said law enforcement agencies already probing the incident should handle the criminal investigation, adding it would be awkward for the Senate to investigate itself.

“I will suggest that we let the National Bureau of Investigation or Philippine National Police, or even the Department of Justice, do the investigation. Limit the Committee of the Whole Inquiry’s inquiry into coming up with remedial legislation or administrative remedies so there will be no repeat of what happened last May 13. We should not interfere in the aspect of who is at fault or who should face charges,” he said in a mix of English and Filipino in an interview on True FM.

Lacson: ‘Senate Protective Custody’ on Bato No Longer Justified Once PH Court Orders Surrender; Urges Bato to Exhaust Legal Remedies

The “Senate protective custody” currently extended to Sen. Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa will no longer be justifiable once a Philippine court issues an order to surrender him to the International Criminal Court – unless the Supreme Court restrains or reverses it, Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson said Wednesday.

Lacson also stressed anew that there are legal remedies available to dela Rosa, adding he must avail of all of them.

“Senate protective custody: legal or not, it cannot be justified anymore when a domestic court issues an order to surrender Senator de la Rosa to the jurisdiction of the ICC, unless the Supreme Court restrains or reverses the order,” he said on X.

Lacson: Blue Ribbon to Transmit Evidence to Ombudsman, DOJ

The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee is to transmit to the Department of Justice and the Office of the Ombudsman the evidence it has so far gathered in its investigation into the flood control mess, Senate President Pro Tempore and Blue Ribbon Panel Chairman Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson said Wednesday.

Lacson said the pieces of evidence – including documents, testimonies and transcripts – are now a matter of public record after he cited them in his privilege speech Tuesday.

“Moving forward, I ordered the preparation of a transmittal letter to the Office of the Ombudsman to give all pieces of evidence – documentary, testimonial, and transcripts. It is now a matter of public record as I cited them in my privilege speech,” he said in a mix of English and Filipino at the Kapihan sa Senado forum.

Lacson: ‘Military-Backed People Power’ Plot Exists but Likely Doomed to Fail

Some groups are reportedly trying to seek support from members of the uniformed services for a possible military-backed “people power revolution” amid the controversies involving President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte – but such efforts are not likely to succeed, Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson said Sunday.

Lacson said he received information indicating that some “retired officers” are trying to recruit support from within the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

“There is definitely an attempt but this is outside the AFP. Those behind this could only recruit a few, if at all, from inside the AFP. My contacts in the Philippine National Police say there is no indication this ‘movement’ will snowball. But definitely there is an attempt, mostly by retired officers,” he said in a mix of English and Filipino in an interview on DZBB radio.
