Ping: Mas Mainam Mag-Donate sa Ahensiya, β€˜wag nang Magregalo sa Tao

bribery

“Our laws should take into account Filipino values such as ‘utang na loob,’ as there are Filipinos who may be offended if their gesture of gratitude is declined,” pahayag ni Lacson.

“To be clear: Revisiting the law is not about providing excuses for accepting ‘gifts.’ This is about making our laws implementable and more attuned to our Filipino values. What good is a law if it cannot be implemented properly?” dagdag pa ng mambabatas.

Lacson: Time to Revisit, Make Anti-Graft Laws More Implementable

Instead of giving public servants gifts that may be perceived as valuable in appreciation for a job well done, why not make an official donation to the institution they work for?

This could be one of the ways our present anti-graft laws could be revisited or refined so they are more attuned to Filipino culture, Sen. Panfilo M. Lacson said.

“Our laws should take into account Filipino values such as ‘utang na loob,’ as there are Filipinos who may be offended if their gesture of gratitude is declined,” Lacson said.

“To be clear: Revisiting the law is not about providing excuses for accepting ‘gifts.’ This is about making our laws implementable and more attuned to our Filipino values. What good is a law if it cannot be implemented properly?” he added.

#PingTweets: On the SC decision on the PNP’s purchase of used choppers in 2009: Let ax fall on the ‘mastermind’

tweet0201-chopper

In 2011, Sen. Lacson exposed irregularities in the P105-million purchase of helicopters by the Philippine National Police and initiated a Senate investigation into it.
By intentionally misrepresenting the helicopters they were selling as brand new and likewise, by intentionally accepting the same as such, both MAPTRA and the PNP may have entered into an anomalous contract which not only gave unwarranted benefits or advantage to a party but also one which is manifestly and grossly disadvantageous to the government in violation of Section 3 (E) and (G) of Republic Act 3019, otherwise known as the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act.
