DAVAO CITY – Former Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson appealed to members of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in Mindanao to help de-escalate the tension involving President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte.
Lacson, who was a guest speaker before the AmCham Mindanao‘s Annual US Thanksgiving here, said that instead of being entertained by the exchange of harsh words, “we should all do our part to help ease the tension.”
“While the perennial warmongers whose pastime is to make their day complete with their passion for gossip and entertainment be it between showbiz couples or political allies resulting in intense conflict and their eventual irreconcilable separation, the majority of us who are sober and discerning feel sad and concerned how this development could affect the future of our country,” he said.

He said one potential negative effect of a prolonged tension between the two highest elected officials of the country would be to discourage potential investors from pursuing their planned investments or have second thoughts about doing business in the Philippines.
“Let’s all help each other. We have undergone several challenges in the past. And we were able to pull through. All conflicts, challenges and issues can be resolved,” he said.
“We must all bear in mind that the great Singaporean leader Lee Kwan Yew once said: ‘When elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers,'” he added.
Lacson is running for senator as an independent candidate, with his credo “Ang tama ay ipaglaban, ang mali ay labanan (What is right must be kept right, what is wrong must be set right).”

Ani Lacson, na guest speaker ng Annual US Thanksgiving ng AmCham Mindanao, hindi dapat tayo maaliw sa palitan ng maaanghang na salita, at sa halip ay gawin ang lahat “to help ease the tension.”
“While the perennial warmongers whose pastime is to make their day complete with their passion for gossip and entertainment be it between showbiz couples or political allies resulting in intense conflict and their eventual irreconcilable separation, the majority of us who are sober and discerning feel sad and concerned how this development could affect the future of our country,” aniya.
Ipinunto ni Lacson na kung nagpatuloy ang tensyon sa pulitika, maaaring hindi tumuloy na ang mga negosyanteng nagbabalak na mamuhunan sa Pilipinas.
