Ping Lacson: Ending Corruption Remains a Key Part of My Legislative Agenda

BAGUIO CITY – Ending corruption and upholding good governance will remain a key part of the legislative agenda of former Senator and senatorial candidate Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson, should he earn a Senate seat this May.

Lacson stressed this point Tuesday in a roundtable discussion on good governance here, attended by experts and anti-corruption advocates led by Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong.

For Lacson, fighting corruption has been the way of life in his careers both as law enforcer and lawmaker – from rejecting bribes from syndicates and ridding the police force of “kotong cops,” to rejecting “pork” in the Senate.

He has also exposed many wrongdoings such as smuggling, triggering investigations into controversies involving government agencies.

Lacson reiterated that leaders who are entrusted with authority must protect the weak and helpless from the greed and abuses of others – including those who betray their mandate.

Among those who attended the forum were San Beda University College of Law dean Atty. Marciano Delson; and Atty. Lyndon Rom David of the University of the Philippines National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG) GRIT Labs.

Others who attended the event included representatives of various sectors including the youths, NGOs, business, civil servants, transport, academe and tourism.

Marciano Delson; at Atty. Lyndon Rom David ng University of the Philippines National College of Public Administration and Governance (NCPAG) GRIT Labs.
