We survived Covid-19. Now we must pray to survive Trump-26.
Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson said this on Wednesday as Filipinos continue to face economic difficulties due to the conflict in the Middle East, which he said is due in large part to Trump’s “whimsical arrogance in treating even the US’ long time allies.”
“Only a few years ago, we outlived the coronavirus, also known as Covid-19. Pray that the world will survive Trump-26,” he said on X.

The conflict in the Middle East, involving the US and its allies, has posed challenges for the Philippines, including disruptions in the supply of oil.
Prices of fuel have spiked, with diesel and kerosene continuing to go up this week. Diesel prices were estimated at up to P144 per liter and kerosene prices at up to P168.79 per liter and gasoline at up to P111 per liter.
Lacson noted this, along with the worsening economic hardships that Filipinos are facing, are due in large part to “Trump’s whimsical arrogance in treating even the US’ long time allies.”
On Tuesday, Trump posted on his Truth Social account that countries that cannot get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz can buy fuel from the US, or “get your own oil.”
Meanwhile, Armed Forces of the Philippines spokesman for the West Philippine Sea Rear Adm. Roy Vincent Trinidad was quoted as saying that China is intentionally ramping up its maritime aggression and ship deployments in the WPS, exploiting the global distractions caused by the conflict in the Middle East.
Trinidad was quoted as saying the military documented 90 Chinese vessels swarming key features in March, marking an increase from 62 vessels in February.
Earlier, Lacson scored Trump’s backfiring brinkmanship, which he said put the Philippines and the rest of the world in crisis.
Because of this, he said Trump should be held to account for his actions not only by the whole world but by his own country, the United States.

Sinabi ito ni Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson nitong Miyerkules, habang patuloy na naghihirap ang mga Pilipino dahil sa epekto ng labanan sa Gitnang Silangan – na aniya’y dahil sa “whimsical arrogance” ni Trump pati sa mga kaalyado ng US.

Ang labanan sa Gitnang Silangan, kung saan kasangkot ang Estados Unidos at mga kaalyado nito, ay nagdulot ng mga hamon sa Pilipinas, kabilang na ang pagkaantala sa suplay ng langis.
Tumaas ang presyo ng langis, at patuloy na tumaas ngayong linggo ang presyo ng diesel at kerosene. Ang presyo ng diesel prices ay tinatayang umabot sa P144 kada litro at presyo ng kerosene hanggang P168.79 kada litro, at ang gasolina hanggang P111 kada litro.
Ikinalungkot ni Lacson na ang ganitong pagtaas ng presyo, kasama ang lumalalang Kalbaryo ng mga Pilipino, ay dahil din sa “Trump’s whimsical arrogance in treating even the US’ long time allies.”
Nitong Martes, nag-post si Trump sa kanyang Truth Social account na ang mga bansang hindi makakakuha ng jet fuel dahil sa sitwasyon sa Strait of Hormuz ay maaaring bumili ng fuel sa US o kaya “go get your own oil.”
Samantala, binanggit naman ni Rear Adm. Roy Vincent Trinidad, tagapagsalita ng Armed Forces of the Philippines para sa West Philippine Sea, na sinasadyang pinalalala ng Tsina ang kanilang maritime aggression at deployment ng mga barko sa WPS, sinasamantala ang atensyon ng mundo na nakatuon sa krisis sa Gitnang Silangan.
Iniulat ni Trinidad na 90 barkong Tsino ang naitala ng militar na nakapalibot sa mga pangunahing lugar noong Marso, tumaas mula sa 62 noong Pebrero.
Noong Marso, binatikos ni Lacson ang pumalyang pagpopostura ni Trump, na aniya’y naglagay sa Pilipinas at sa buong mundo sa krisis.
Dahil dito, sinabi niya na dapat panagutin si Trump sa kanyang mga aksyon, hindi lamang ng buong mundo kundi pati ng sariling bansa, ang Estados Unidos.
