Senator-Judge Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson on Tuesday denied saying that the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte-Carpio should be completed by December, stressing that he has neither the power nor the influence to dictate the timeline of the proceedings.
Lacson issued the clarification after Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano claimed on Monday that Lacson said the impeachment trial should conclude by December.
In Filipino: Lacson: Wala Akong Binigay na Timeline para sa Impeachment Trial ng VP
“A classic case of putting words into my mouth. I never said, ‘Dapat matapos ang impeachment by December.’ I do not have the power or influence to dictate the timeline,” Lacson said in an X post.
Cayetano had cited Lacson’s supposed statement as he discussed in an interview what he described as “threats” against members of the Senate minority bloc.
Lacson earlier said that if his anti-corruption crusade is intimidating – or even rattling – the corrupt, then he must be doing something “right and good for the country.”
Earlier, Lacson and his staff submitted to the Office of the Ombudsman at least 45 case studies backed by official documents detailing “systemic anomalies” in flood control infrastructure projects.
Aside from this, Lacson and his team sent to the Ombudsman several pieces of evidence they have gathered so far on the illegal reclamation and infrastructure projects in Taguig City.

“A classic case of putting words into my mouth. I never said, ‘Dapat matapos ang impeachment by December.’ I do not have the power or influence to dictate the timeline,” ani Lacson sa isang post sa X.
