Mr. Chairman, distinguished members of the Commission on Appointments: This Representation as the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs presided over a public hearing this morning to deliberate on the nomination of Mr. RENATO NER DUEÑAS, JR. as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Negara Brunei Darussalam with the ranks and emoluments of Chief of Mission, Class II.
Your Committee, after deliberating on his qualifications and fitness during the public hearing, determined that he is fit and qualified for the post to which he is nominated and, therefore, recommends to the plenary the confirmation of his nomination for the consent and approval of this body.
Mr. Chairman, it is my privilege and honor to recommend that this body give its consent to the confirmation of the nomination of AMBASSADOR RENATO NER DUEÑAS, JR.
Our nominee possesses extensive diplomatic experience acquired through key postings in the Middle East and Africa.
Ambassador Dueñas served as Director of the Office of Middle East and African Affairs at the Department of Foreign Affairs from February to May 2024; as Consul General at the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from November 2021 to February 2024; and as Deputy Consul General at the Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from February 2018 to October 2021.
To this end, Mr. Chairman and distinguished colleagues, I move that the Commission give its consent to the nomination of AMBASSADOR RENATO NER DUEÑAS, JR. as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Negara Brunei Darussalam with the rank and emoluments of Chief of Mission, Class II.
