Lacson Vows ‘Logical Conclusion’ for Probe into Anomalous Infra Projects in Disgraced Ex-SP Cayetano’s Bailiwick

Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson and his team continued pursuing leads over the weekend in their investigation into the anomalous slope protection and drainage projects in Taguig City, the bailiwick of disgraced ex-Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano, as they seek to bring the probe to its “logical conclusion” and hold those responsible accountable.

Lacson stressed that their efforts are driven not by personal motives but by the need to exact accountability.

“WORKING ON A WEEKEND: today, a Saturday, we haven’t slowed down in following up the leads to maintain the momentum gained since we started investigating the anomalous slope protection and drainage projects in Taguig. Our goal is to reach its logical conclusion,” Lacson said on X.

Lacson: Plot Thickens, Case Strengthens vs Disgraced Ex-SP Cayetano as More Bagmen Identified in Taguig Ghost Infra Probe

The plot thickens. The list lengthens. The case strengthens. “SHOOT SA KALDERO!”

This was how Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson described on Friday the progress of the investigation into ghost infrastructure projects in Taguig City, the political bailiwick of disgraced ex-Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano – following the identification of more bagmen and other new findings.

“TAGUIG GHOST INFRA PROJECTS UPDATE # 3: Ang daming damning (evidence). The plot thickens. The list lengthens. The case strengthens. Kung merong ‘shoot sa balde’, meron ding SHOOT SA KALDERO,” Lacson said in a post on X.

Lacson: OVP Request for Special Food Arrangements May Violate Procurement Law

Senator-Judge and Senate Committee on Accounts Chairman Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson strongly opposed Vice President Sara Duterte’s request for special food arrangements during her impeachment trial in the Senate, as it may violate the government procurement law.

Lacson also said the Senate still has about P22.6 million in unspent appropriations from the 2025 budget for the impeachment trial that may be used to provide meals for those performing official duties in connection with the proceedings, including the prosecution and defense teams.

The Vice President had written Senate President Sherwin Gatchalian requesting that the Senate shoulder the costs of food, beverage and catering services for the defense team, while requiring that these be sourced exclusively from the Office of the Vice President’s accredited caterer.

“ON OVP’S REQUEST FOR SPECIAL FOOD ARRANGEMENTS: There’s still around P22.6M out of the original P27.5M budget under the 2025 GAA available for the impeachment trial to feed and quench the thirsts of both the prosecution and defense teams, their support staff and witnesses and for other impeachment related activities. That said, we cannot pay the OVP’s caterer without violating the procurement law,” he said in a post on X.

Lacson Bares Double Appropriations for Same Slope Protection Project in Taguig

Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson on Wednesday afternoon bared yet more potential anomalies involving infrastructure projects in Taguig City, the political bailiwick of disgraced ex-Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano.

Lacson said his team’s latest findings found three additional P100-million slope protection projects under the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA), raising to P2.385 billion the total insertions in Taguig City.

In addition, two separate items appeared to be double appropriations for the same project, indicating one of the two may be deemed a ghost project.

“From P2.085B as earlier reported we found three-P100M additional slope protection projects for a new total of P2.385B insertions under the 2025 GAA. Two items appear to be double appropriations, involving two (2)-P100M for the same slope protection project. One of the two must be ghost,” he said in a post on X Wednesday afternoon.

Lacson Flags Suspected Ghost Infrastructure Projects in Taguig

Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson flagged on Wednesday at least two suspected ghost infrastructure projects in Taguig City, the political bailiwick of disgraced ex-Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano.

Lacson, citing initial findings by his team, also noted there was a staggering number of slope protection and drainage projects – most of them costing P100 million each – with a combined value of some P2.085 billion.

“TAGUIG GHOST INFRA PROJECTS UPDATE: We have documented at least 2 case studies so far. Too many P100M slope protection and drainage projects totaling P2.085B out of the P6.79B insertions under the 2025 GAA,” he said in a post on X.

“There is no turning back!” he added.
