#PingSays: On possible cover-up in ‘Atio’ Castillo hazing, anti-drug war, CHR budget for 2018 | Sept. 27, 2017

In an interview, Sen. Lacson answers questions on:
– possible cover-up in the hazing of Horacio Castillo III
– SWS survey on killings in anti-drug operations
– CHR budget for 2018

Quotes from the interview…

On possible cover-up in Atio Castillo’s hazing death:
“Cover-up very evident. Very evident ang cover-up. Malinaw yan. Kasi pagka frat may omerta yan, code of silence. Yan ang nagti-trigger ng cover-up. I’m just hoping ma-resolve ng prosecutor general ang issue ng inquest. Sabi nila once ma-resolve yan they are willing to submit their affidavit na prepared na. Nasa affidavit lahat na nangyari. Pero kung inquest siya, detained siya kasi no bail yan. But kinu-question nga, inquestable ba ang case, considering a number of days have lapsed?”

On SWS finding that 50% Filipinos believe victims in anti-drug ops did not fight back:
“We should take it seriously. Alam natin ang reputation ng SWS, nagra-random sila. Meron silang scientific method to substantiate ano ang findings nila.”
“Di pwede itigil. Kaya lang dapat ang pulis should be reoriented. Talagang follow the rule of law, huwag mag-shortcut, although it’s easier said than done.”

On CHR budget for 2018:
“Meron akong subcommittee report. Tinaasan ko pa. May addition. May nakaltas doon, kinaltas sa NEP. Meron akong nirestore doon na kailangan nila.”
