#PingSays: On corruption in the BOC; and UN official’s tirade vs President Duterte | March 12, 2018

In an interview, Sen. Lacson answers questions on:
– corruption in the Bureau of Customs
– UN official’s tirade vs President Duterte

Quotes from the interview…Β

On the release of ex-BOC head Nicanor Faeldon:
“Sa akin wala na yan. He already answered for whatever indiscretion during the hearings na na-commit niya. Kung may tao rito sa Senate na pinakamatindi mag-move on, ako yan. Whether maski anong relationship, love-hate relationship, maski kaaway lang, sariwa pa bruises ko, nakamove on na ako, nakikipagkamay na ako. Walang problema sa akin.
“I think he has suffered enough, na-detain siya how many months for whatever misdeeds nan a-commit niya sa disrespect na pinakita niya sa Senado. Napagbayaran na niya yan. Tama na.”

On corruption in the BOC:
“At my end wala akong natatanggap na report. Di tara ang pinagkakakitaan ngayon doon. Ang demorahe, or threat na hindi agad mare-release magtatagal kaya nagka-cough up ng whatever amount ang importer because nade-delay ang pag-release ng kanilang kargamento at tuloy nadadagdagan ang babayaran na demorahe. Yan ang narinig kong anomaly sa BOC.”
“But I think Commissioner Lapena is doing his darned best to really introduce reforms sa BOC. And coming from the previous administration sa Customs, the Customs Bureau is in much, much better β€˜good hands’ than before.”

On UN official’s tirade vs PRRD:
“High official ng UN, and kung sinasabi nilang mali ang ginagawang pang-insulto ni PRRD sa officials ng ibang bansa, e kung binabalik nila ang insulto, what does that make of them? Ibig sabihin, ang sinasabi nilang mali, ginagawa nila. So coming from the high commissioner on HR, mukhang hindi nararapat na sa kanya nanggaling ang ganoong klaseng pananalita.”
