Which of the four types of candidates will Filipinos choose on Election Day?
Former Senator and 2025 senatorial candidate Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson raised this question late Friday as he said any hope for the nation will depend on who they will choose.
“The question: is there hope for our country? The answer: The answer lies in your hands,” Lacson said in Filipino at the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate’s rally in Antipolo City.

He said the four types of candidates can be grouped as follows:
* One who works and never steals from public funds;
* One who does his work but also steals public funds;
* One who is too lazy and does not work, but does not steal;
* One who is lazy and does not work, but only knows how to steal public funds.
“It is up to you to decide who among the four types of candidates you will choose,” he said.
Lacson said that in his case, he had rescued victims of crimes as a soldier and policeman; and stopped kotong (extortion) and disciplined the police as Chief of the Philippine National Police.
He authored several key laws including the Anti-Red Tape Act, National ID System, Free Irrigation Act, Student Fare Discount Act, Anti-Terrorism Act, and Anti-Money Laundering Act – and more importantly, earned a reputation as a watchdog of the national budget as senator.
Meanwhile, Lacson lauded residents of Rizal province for being the Most Competitive Province in 2024; and Antipolo City for being the Most Business-Friendly Component City in 2023.
He lauded Rizal Governor Nina Ricci “Nina” Ynares and Antipolo Mayor Casimiro “Jun” Ynares III for their leadership.
“This means that if your leaders work smart and hard, our local government units will go places. To Governor Nina and Mayor Jun, congratulations and keep up the good work. Thank you very much,” Lacson said.

Alin sa apat na klaseng kandidato ang pipiliin ng mga Pilipino sa araw ng halalan sa Mayo?
Ito ang tanong ni dating Senador at 2025 senatorial candidate Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson nitong Biyernes ng hapon, kung saan iginiit niya na ang pipiliin nila ang magpapasiya kung may pagasa pa ba ang ating bayan.
“Ang tanong, may pagasa po ba ang ating bansa? Ang sagot: Nasa inyo pong mga kamay ang kasagutan,” ani Lacson sa rally ng Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate sa Antipolo City.
Ayon kay Lacson, kabilang sa apat na klaseng kandidato ang:
* Ang marunong magtrabaho at hindi nangungurakot;
* Ang marunong at masipag magtrabaho pero nangungurakot;
* Hindi marunong magtrabaho, tamad, pero hindi naman nangungurakot;
* Hindi na nga marunong magtrabaho, tamad, nangungurakot pa.
“Bahala na po kayong manuri at magpasiya kung sino sa apat na uri ng mga kandidato para sa senador ang inyong pipiliin,” ani Lacson.
Ipinunto ni Lacson na bilang alagad ng batas, sinagip niya ang biktima ng krimen; nagpatigil sa kotong at nagdisiplina sa pulis bilang hepe ng Philippine National Police.
Bilang senador, siya ang may-akda ng mahalagang batas tulad ng Anti-Red Tape Act, National ID System, Free Irrigation Act, Student Fare Discount Act, Anti-Terrorism Act, at Anti-Money Laundering Act – at mas mahalaga, naging tagabantay ng kaban ng bayan.
Samantala, pinuri ni Lacson ang Rizal na naging “Most Competitive Province” noong 2024; at Antipolo City na naging “Most Business-Friendly Component City” noong 2023.
Pinuri din niya si Rizal Gov. Nina Ricci “Nina” Ynares at Antipolo Mayor Casimiro “Jun” Ynares III sa kanilang pamumuno.
“Ang ibig sabihin nito, kapag matitino at magagaling ang namumuno, may mapupuntahan ang ating local government units. Kaya Governor Nina, Mayor Jun, congratulations, keep up the good work, maraming salamat sa inyong lahat,” ani Lacson.
