Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson expressed “double relief” on Thursday over the leadership change in the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, even as he reiterated he will not ease up in his efforts to fight corruption.
Lacson stressed this after Sen. Pilar Juliana “Pia” Cayetano was named as the new Blue Ribbon panel chairperson, a week after a leadership change in the Senate.
“Double relief. I feel relieved that I am now relieved of my duties as the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairman,” he said in a post on his X account.

Lacson, who chaired the panel’s probe into anomalous flood control projects, had pointed out that all chairpersons of the Senate committees are elected by their peers and thus serve at the pleasure of their colleagues.
Under his chairmanship, the Blue Ribbon Committee has contributed to the case buildup efforts against some personalities linked to the flood control mess.
But he also emphasized that vacating the Blue Ribbon Committee chairmanship will not diminish his long-standing fight against corruption and other forms of wrongdoing.
“I will continue to fight a corrupt and rotten system in the misuse and abuse of public funds as I have consistently done in the course of my long years in public service,” he said.

Ngunit binigyang-diin din niya na ang pag-alis niya bilang chairperson ng Blue Ribbon Committee ay hindi magpapahina sa kanyang matagal nang laban kontra katiwalian at iba pang anyo ng maling gawain.
