Ping Lacson Bats for Added Incentives for LGUs to Improve Collection, Spur Growth

Independent senatorial candidate Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson wants additional incentives for local government units (LGUs) to improve their local tax collection while giving more opportunities for local businesses to grow.

Lacson, who spoke at the flag-raising ceremony of the Quezon City government early Monday, also said this should go hand in hand with good governance and fighting corruption.

“I am considering including in my priority legislation the adding of incentives for local governments like Quezon City, so they will be motivated further to facilitate businesses and make things easier for small entrepreneurs, while further improving tax collection,” he said in Filipino.

Message to the National Bureau of Investigation at Its Flag-Raising Ceremony

Director Dante Gierran, mga namumuno sa NBI, mga kawani ng Bureau, magandang umaga sa ating lahat. For the first time in many years, I’m with a friendly National Bureau of Investigation.

I have an amusing story to tell.  When I was a young kid of six, probably seven years of age, I have always dreamt of becoming an NBI agent. From numerous life-threatening exploits narrated by my late grandfather, who fought the Spaniards at a very young age as a Katipunero in our historic province of Cavite, I became instantly fascinated by people whose bread and butter was risking their lives to fight for their country.

The moment I first set my bare foot at the soil of our barrio’s one and only elementary school, my mind was already set on becoming a lawyer someday, not to prosecute or defend litigants in the judicial process but to simply become a regular agent of the National Bureau of Investigation.

Message at the Senate’s Flag-Raising Ceremony

Bilang mga kawani ng gobyerno, tuwing Lunes ng umaga, kapag tayo’y nanunumpa ng katapatan sa watawat ng Pilipinas, sana lagi nating isinasapuso ang diwa ng awiting Lupang Hinirang at pati na ang panunumpa sa ating bandila.

Subali’t sa araw na ito, ilan kaya sa atin ang habang bumibigkas ng mga katagang inuulit natin sa naatasang manguna sa atin sa panunumpa ay inaantok pa o kaya ay binabagabag ng mga problemang iniwan nila sa kani-kanilang mga bahay o dili kaya ay nagngingitngit pa sa galit sa nakagitgitan sa traffic o kaya ay nakasiksikan sa LRT at jeepney kaninang papunta sa Senado? Sino-sino naman kaya ang hanggang ngayon mga nangangarap pa sa mga naka-date kahapon na Araw ng mga Puso?
