Ping Lacson Bats for Added Incentives for LGUs to Improve Collection, Spur Growth

Independent senatorial candidate Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson wants additional incentives for local government units (LGUs) to improve their local tax collection while giving more opportunities for local businesses to grow.

Lacson, who spoke at the flag-raising ceremony of the Quezon City government early Monday, also said this should go hand in hand with good governance and fighting corruption.

“I am considering including in my priority legislation the adding of incentives for local governments like Quezon City, so they will be motivated further to facilitate businesses and make things easier for small entrepreneurs, while further improving tax collection,” he said in Filipino.

Ping Lacson Eyes Ways to Protect Small Fishermen from Commercial Vessels

Should he earn a seat in the Senate this May, former Senator and 2025 senatorial candidate Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson will study ways to protect the welfare of small fishermen in the wake of a Supreme Court ruling allowing commercial vessels to operate in municipal waters.

Lacson, a champion of the rights of farmers and fisherfolk as well as local government units, said Thursday that at least one LGU has joined calls asking the Supreme Court to reconsider its ruling.

“Legislation may be needed, including possible amendments to existing laws, to firm up the protection of our municipal waters,” Lacson said in Filipino in an interview on Bombo Radyo Philippines on Thursday.

Ping Lacson Wants LGUs to Show the Way in Proper Implementation of National ID

If the national government cannot implement the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys or National ID) properly, perhaps the local government units (LGUs), especially the more progressive ones like Muntinlupa City, can show the way by doing a better job of it.

On this note, former Senator and 2025 senatorial candidate Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson wants LGUs to be the starting point for the proper implementation of the PhilSys Act, which he had authored and sponsored in the Senate.

“The National ID system is aligned with Mayor Ruffy Biazon’s aim for Muntinlupa to become a smart city. It can help not just in anti-crime efforts, but also in the implementation of social services. Muntinlupa’s MUNTIcen and MUNConnect programs are commendable,” Lacson said in Filipino at the flag-raising ceremony of the Muntinlupa City government early Monday.

“This is also in line with my advocacy to have full digitalization of all government transactions. And we can start such implementation in your city,” he added.

Former Senator and 2025 senatorial candidate Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson wants local government units (LGUs) around Laguna Lake to have a greater say in its cleanup, rehabilitation and management.

“I am prepared to partner with you not just in Muntinlupa City but also the other LGUs around Laguna Lake in this regard,” Lacson said in Filipino at the Muntinlupa City government’s flag-raising ceremony early Monday.

CEBU CITY – Former Senator and 2025 senatorial candidate Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson intends to help keep Cebu “amazing” with his advocacies to safeguard the national budget and empower the local government units (LGUs).

Lacson, who received a big boost in his campaign after being endorsed by Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia on Friday, said Saturday that Cebu has experienced tremendous growth but there are still towns that are poor.

“I will continue being the vanguard of the national budget, to prevent funds from being unused or misused. That is my advocacy, and that will help Cebu because our thrust is to empower the local government units with the use of the national budget,” he said in Filipino, in an interview on Bombo Radyo Cebu here.
