Ping Lacson: Government Intervention Needed to Help, Not Burden Farmers and Sugar Millers

BACOLOD CITY – Amid rising prices of food and other basic items, government intervention is needed to help – but not burden – farmers and sugar millers, former Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson stressed Friday.

Lacson called for more interventions like those done by some local government units (LGUs) of buying crops from farmers at higher prices than those offered by middlemen and traders.

“The government must intervene the right way if the sugar industry, particularly the millers, face a crisis… The intervention must be to help and not burden them,” he said in Filipino in an interview with Bombo Radyo Bacolod here.

Ping Lacson Assures Negros Oriental Folk of Same Dedication as Law Enforcer, Senator

DUMAGUETE CITY – I will never, never waste your vote. On this note, former Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson assured residents here of his commitment to continue his uncompromising brand of public service should he earn a seat in the Senate.

Lacson also said that like in his law enforcement days, his reward for a job well done would be the knowledge that he has the trust of the Filipinos he swore to serve.

“If you will entrust me with a Senate seat again, I will never, never waste your vote. I will continue my work as senator – fighting wrongdoing and scrutinizing our national budget to help our people,” Lacson said in Filipino at the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate’s rally here Thursday afternoon.

“When I ran for senator before and was rewarded a seat in the Senate, I continued my crusade against corruption especially by scrutinizing the national budget – to make sure our money goes to remote areas like Negros Oriental,” he added.

Maayong hapon, Dumaguete City! Maayong hapon, Negros Oriental!

Ping Lacson: Balance of Power Proving Effective vs Threats in WPS

DUMAGUETE CITY – The balance of power that the Marcos administration has adopted is proving effective so far in fending off threats in the West Philippine Sea, former Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson said Thursday.

Lacson reiterated his full support for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s policy of the Philippines not surrendering “not even an inch” of our territory.

“One thing the President did that I support, is that he allied with other countries that are as militarily strong if not stronger than China. This is what I have been espousing – the balance of power,” he said in Filipino at a press conference of the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate here.
