Lacson Cheers Alex Eala’s Breakthrough Wimbledon Win

Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson welcomed on Wednesday the breakthrough victory of Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala in the opening round of the prestigious Wimbledon Championships.

Lacson wished Eala continued success as he noted her impressive win is a refreshing break from the “unpleasant atmosphere” surrounding the “protest” rally along Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) in Quezon City.

“Watching Alex Eala’s easy win in her first round of the prestigious Wimbledon Championships is a welcome departure from the unpleasant atmosphere in EDSA. Congratulations and good luck!” he said on X.

Lacson Trusts Ombudsman Won’t Cave in to Pressure from INC Rallies

Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson expressed confidence Tuesday that Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla will not cave in to the pressure stemming from the Iglesia ni Cristo’s rallies in support of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta.

Lacson also expressed optimism that despite disruptions caused by Marcoleta’s supporters, the Philippine National Police (PNP) will maintain peace and order.

“Ombudsman Boying is tough as a Caviteño will always be. I trust that he won’t cave in to the INC rallies and pressure – not today, not tomorrow and certainly not when Sen Marcoleta’s plunder case is filed in court as earlier announced,” Lacson said on X.

“His INC backers may block EDSA all they want and cause traffic jams and chaos to the discomfort of ordinary commuters. Surely, the PNP will be there to maintain peace and order,” he added.

Lacson Reaffirms Evidence-Led Probe into Alleged Cash Delivery Scheme Involving Ex-Military Men Amid INC Statement

Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson reaffirmed Saturday that evidence will remain the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee’s guide in probing the alleged cash delivery scheme involving former military personnel, amid comments by the Iglesia ni Cristo on the issue.

Lacson also maintained his respect for the Iglesia ni Cristo and its opinion on the issue, as he pointed out that having a different opinion does not automatically mean disrespect.

“As chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, I haven’t changed my position about being led by evidence guided only by the prudent and logical way of treating any information that comes to my attention – evaluate and validate the credibility and reliability of both the source as well as the information itself before taking action,” he said.

Statement on the Death of Iglesia ni Cristo Executive Minister Eraño G. Manalo

I commiserate with the faithful on the passing of the pillar and the executive minister of the Iglesia ni Cristo, Eraño G. Manalo.

For the last five decades, he showed the strength of his faith and dedication to continue his father’s vocation. He inspired charity for the poor, and encouraged others to do the same.

His passing has made us orphans but we are consoled by the legacy of his actions and the constancy of his church.

I extend my profound sympathies.
