Lacson: Senators Should Direct ‘Kumusta Kayo’ and ‘Aalagaan Ko Kayo’ to Filipinos, Back It With Action

Senators’ “kumusta kayo” and “aalagaan ko kayo” should reflect concern for ordinary Filipinos – not just among themselves – and must be backed by action, Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson stressed on Friday.

Lacson said the new Senate minority bloc, where he is a member. is focusing on this by discussing ways to contribute to policy decision-making, while restoring the integrity of the Senate as an institution.

“The Filipinos should be the ones we show concern for. What is their plight? Can they still cope with their situation? When we say kumusta, we should not think of ourselves but ask what is the situation of our fellow Filipinos,” he said in a mix of English and Filipino in an interview on True FM.

“This is one reason why we in the minority want to contribute and make a difference in policy decision-making, and we can do this if we are in the majority. This is not a condescending claim that only we have the moral authority. This is what emerges from our minority caucuses,” he added.

Lacson Feels ‘Double Relief’ After Blue Ribbon Leadership Change

Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson expressed “double relief” on Thursday over the leadership change in the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, even as he reiterated he will not ease up in his efforts to fight corruption.

Lacson stressed this after Sen. Pilar Juliana “Pia” Cayetano was named as the new Blue Ribbon panel chairperson, a week after a leadership change in the Senate.

“Double relief. I feel relieved that I am now relieved of my duties as the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairman,” he said in a post on his X account.

Lacson: Flood Control Probe Findings Won’t Go to Waste Despite Senate Leadership Change

Amid the leadership change in the Senate on Monday, Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson assured the public Tuesday that the Blue Ribbon Committee’s findings so far on the flood control anomalies would not go to waste.

Lacson said the committee under his leadership had already contributed to the fact-finding and case buildup efforts of the Department of Justice and Office of the Ombudsman against some personalities.

“Our findings would not go to waste. First of all, we already contributed to the preliminary investigation of the Department of Justice and Office of the Ombudsman, through testimonial and documentary evidence,” he said in a mix of English and Filipino in an interview on DZMM radio.

Lacson Calls Out Marcoleta for ‘Deliberately’ Avoiding Denying Handwritten Note on P500M Allocables

He cried foul, yet stopped short of denying that he sought P500 million in “allocables” from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Senate President Pro Tempore and Blue Ribbon Committee chairman Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson thus called out Sen. Rodante Marcoleta Friday over his privilege speech protesting his inclusion in a presentation linking lawmakers to allocables, which Lacson had branded as the new pork barrel.

“He ‘deliberately’ missed the most important reaction: deny or refute the handwritten note (c/o Cong Marcoleta) on the document as presented,” Lacson said in a post on X.

Lacson: Blue Ribbon to Transmit Evidence to Ombudsman, DOJ

The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee is to transmit to the Department of Justice and the Office of the Ombudsman the evidence it has so far gathered in its investigation into the flood control mess, Senate President Pro Tempore and Blue Ribbon Panel Chairman Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson said Wednesday.

Lacson said the pieces of evidence – including documents, testimonies and transcripts – are now a matter of public record after he cited them in his privilege speech Tuesday.

“Moving forward, I ordered the preparation of a transmittal letter to the Office of the Ombudsman to give all pieces of evidence – documentary, testimonial, and transcripts. It is now a matter of public record as I cited them in my privilege speech,” he said in a mix of English and Filipino at the Kapihan sa Senado forum.
