Ping Lacson: Close Scrutiny of Budget Key to Infrastructure in Provinces

LUCENA, Quezon – A constant and close scrutiny of the national budget is key to addressing infrastructure and traffic challenges in the provinces, independent senatorial candidate Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson stressed Friday afternoon.

Lacson, who placed second in the 2016 senatorial elections in this province, said this will help ensure that infrastructure projects, both big-ticket and locally-funded, will not be prone to substandard materials due to corruption.

“This is our problem. We do not lack the wherewithal or the budget to improve or build new infrastructure projects, but the challenge is that the funds are lost to corruption,” he said in Filipino at the press conference of the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate here.

Ping Lacson’s Speech at Alyansa Rally in Dagupan

Ping Lacson to Ensure Sufficient Budget for School Programs, Teachers’ Allowances

Public schools and teachers can be assured of sufficient funding for their various needs, should former Senator and 2025 senatorial candidate Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson earn a Senate seat in May.

Lacson said he will move to augment the appropriations for programs like school nutrition as well as teachers’ allowances in the national budget – as he has done every year while in the Senate.

“When I was in the Senate, I would augment their funding in the budget deliberations. This is consistently every year,” he said.

At Rizal’s Birthplace, Ping Lacson Promises ‘KKK’ Brand of Public Service

STA. ROSA CITY, Laguna – At the birthplace of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal, former Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson on Saturday offered Filipinos his own modern-day “KKK” brand of public service based on experience, qualification and ability.

Lacson said the heroism of the original KKK stood for “Kataastaasang Kagalanggalangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan” is not far from his brand of KKK that stands for “Karanasan, Kwalipikasyon at Kakayahan (Experience, Qualification and Ability).”

“I have my own brand of KKK: Karanasan, Kwalipikasyon at Kakayahan, or Experience, Qualification, and Ability,” he said in Filipino at the rally of the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial bets here.

Ping Lacson Pushes Barangay-Level Health Care System in PH

STA. ROSA CITY, Laguna – Former Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson on Saturday pushed for the full and proper implementation of the Universal Health Care Act, so the Philippines can have a barangay-level health care system that can at least approximate the efficient health care system in Cuba.

Lacson said this can be done by ensuring the proper funding of the UHC Act, such that it will cover all Filipinos in all barangays – even as he said the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) may not be able to give 100 percent free health benefits to Filipinos.

“You know me as a watchdog of the budget. I scrutinize it to help make sure that the laws we pass like the UHC, Free Tertiary Education Act, and other laws passed by Congress do not get paralyzed due to lack of funding,” he said in Filipino at the press conference of the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate here.

“We want to make sure the UHC Act covers all barangays. When we are stuck at the low end, we are just having pilot programs in selected barangays. But when we go to full implementation, we cover all barangays,” he added.
