Ping Lacson: Leyte History My Inspiration to Ensure Better Future for Pinoys

TACLOBAN CITY – The history of Leyte is an inspiration for former Sen. Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson in ensuring a better future not only for residents of Leyte but for all Filipinos.

In his speech at the rally of the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial bets here Friday evening, Lacson said he will use his experience, qualification and competence to serve should he win a Senate seat in May.

“Should I be given a chance to serve as senator, I will continue my faithful service using my experience, qualifications and competence,” he said in Filipino.

“And you can rest assured I will continue to be the watchdog of our coffers to make sure the people of Tacloban, Leyte and other parts of our country will benefit from our public funds by way of food on the table, money for tuition, and free medicine,” he added.

Ping Lacson Cites Govt-Private Sector Partnership, Other Lasting Lessons from Yolanda Rehab Work

TACLOBAN CITY – The partnership between government and the private sector – including non-government and civil society organizations (NGO/CSO) – is invaluable in helping Filipinos recover from major calamities like Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in 2013.

This was one of the lasting lessons that former Senator and Presidential Assistant for Rehabilitation and Recovery (PARR) Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson cited as he visited this city on Friday.

“One lesson I learned is this. The government cannot live by itself. It needs the cooperation of the private sector. Even local government units will face difficulty without the private sector’s help. That is the lesson I learned while working as PARR,” Lacson, who served as PARR from late 2013 to early 2015, said in Filipino at a gathering of local officials from Samar led by Gov. Sharee Ann Tan, at the Summit Hotel here.
