Ping Lacson: Close Scrutiny of Budget Key to Infrastructure in Provinces

LUCENA, Quezon – A constant and close scrutiny of the national budget is key to addressing infrastructure and traffic challenges in the provinces, independent senatorial candidate Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson stressed Friday afternoon.

Lacson, who placed second in the 2016 senatorial elections in this province, said this will help ensure that infrastructure projects, both big-ticket and locally-funded, will not be prone to substandard materials due to corruption.

“This is our problem. We do not lack the wherewithal or the budget to improve or build new infrastructure projects, but the challenge is that the funds are lost to corruption,” he said in Filipino at the press conference of the Alyansa para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial slate here.

Ping Lacson’s Speech at Alyansa Rally in Dagupan

Ping Lacson: Speech before the PCCI 1st General Membership Meeting

Before I begin, let me share with you a short story – A man was walking on his farm one quiet Sunday afternoon – a rare break from the series of meetings and activities he had attended for the past several weeks. The heat of the April sun had mildened.

It was the perfect time to enjoy the gentle wind carrying the scent of freshly cut grass, softly touching his face. As he savored the stillness, he stopped by his favorite side of his pond, picked a dark gray pebble lying on the ground and tossed it sideways into the pond. As the pebble landed in the water, he noticed the instant ripples it created, spreading to the surface of the water, even reaching the far end of the pond.

From here, the man realized something: no matter how small that pebble – as a man’s voice or action is – it can create ripples that, in one way or another, make an impact – sometimes one that we cannot even foresee.

Ping Lacson Lauds Sanitation Inspectors for Major Role in Public Health

BAGUIO CITY – Former Senator and 2025 senatorial candidate Panfilo “Ping” M. Lacson on Wednesday lauded the country’s sanitation inspectors for the important role they play in maintaining the public’s health.

In his message before the League of Sanitation Inspectors of the Philippines, Inc. (LSIPI), Lacson said that should he earn a seat in the Senate, he will revisit and review Presidential Decree 856 to upgrade the working conditions of sanitary inspectors.

“Decades have brought along change, yet one thing remains clear: the work that you do as sanitation inspectors – as foot soldiers of our health department – remains as critical as before to public health and safety,” he said in Filipino at the LSIPI’s 24th National Planning, Consultative Meeting and Conference on Environmental Health, Safe Water and Sustainable Sanitation.
