Speech at the San Pedro Calungsod Medical Center’s Thanksgiving Night

At the outset, allow me to confess – I never imagined that being in a room full of doctors would be this pleasant and comforting. Because normally, in most scenarios where one is surrounded by all sorts of medical professionals, kakabahan ka na!

Kidding aside, I feel fortunate today, not only because I am surrounded by hardworking doctors, but even more so because around me are the best ones from the San Pedro Calungsod Medical Center – the very hospital I had the honor of being one of the original founders, and which I have supported since its founding a decade ago.

Truly, a lot has transpired since the day the idea of establishing an additional medical facility in the urban municipality of Kawit, Cavite was first conceived.

Alam nyo, bilang isang Kabitenyo, talagang nakakataba ng puso na makita ang bayan bayan sa ating probinsya na umaasenso. Napakaganda pagpasok pa lang namin kanina talagang namamangha kami sa ganda nang makita namin ang video presentation talagang napakaganda ng inyong gusali, socio-economic building na mula sa pag-conceptualize, pagpaplano, pag-implement, talagang utang na loob nating lahat kay Cong Pidi.

Speech at the PNP Foundation Inc.’s Donation of Equipment to the PNP

How time flies. Twenty-five years ago, on Nov. 28, 1999, barely 12 days after my appointment as the eighth Chief of the PNP, I was at the forefront of this organization’s two-pronged battle: one directed against criminal gangs and syndicates – robbers, kidnappers, drug lords and the like; and with equal intensity and vigor, I was also training our guns on what I had labeled then as the ICUs within our ranks: the Inept, Corrupt and Undisciplined policemen, especially focusing on the so-called kotong cops, or mulcting policemen on the streets preying on hapless motorists, public utility vehicles and vegetable dealers who had to shell out portions of their daily earnings as part of their daily ordeal.

I believed then as I still believe now, that for an organization to properly do its job and accomplish its goals, there is no better way than to leading its members with AID, meaning Aptitude, Integrity, Discipline. Yan po ang antidote.

Speech before the American Chamber of Commerce Mindanao Chapter

It is truly an honor to be here once again, especially in a remarkable gathering with outstanding business leaders who are at the leading edge of driving economic growth and progress in the southern region of our archipelago. And for this, I thank you for the opportunity.

I know you just wrapped up your elections earlier today, and with the results still as fresh as the first light of dawn, I would like to offer first a few insights about elections in general.

Addressing the Baguio City Pastors’ Night

According to Luke 10:19: “Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you.”

When I came across this Bible verse, I thought of leaders entrusted with authority or power if you will, especially those of us who at some point in our careers were elected to serve the interests of the very same people who gave us the mandate to serve them.
